Dark Moon Designs is looking for a skilled Scenic Fabricator to join our team. We design and build custom scenic environments and illuminated installations for artists, festivals, and productions around the world.

Every project that leaves our shop is tour-grade, detail-driven, and meant to create unforgettable experiences. This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment and can adapt to changing project needs. Hours are part-time and variable depending on workload, perfect for carpenters who are flexible and enjoy working on high-impact builds.

Details

• Position: Part-Time, Variable Hours (schedule depends on active projects and experience and skillset)
• Rate: Starting at $23 an hour
• Location: 820 S Lincoln St, Longmont CO 80501
• Shop Hours are Tuesday - Friday 8AM - 6PM
• Optional shifts on the weekend are offered
• Overtime is 1.5x Hourly, active after 40 hours in our standard work week which recycles on Tuesday

Responsibilities:

• Build scenic elements and units according to drawings and plans.
• Fabricate parts (or integrate CNC-cut components), assemble, and prepare for finishing/paint.
• Collaborate with other fabricators to ensure smooth project flow.
• Participate in shop fit-ups, installations, truck loading, and on-site logistics as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workspace.
• Assist in caring for and maintaining shop tools and equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in shop processes and standards.
• Capable of basic mathematical equations and ability to derive measurements from cut lists and prep paperwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in carpentry, fabrication, theater, or construction
• Ability to self-manage while also collaborating effectively with a team
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities

Bonus Qualifications

• Degree or certification in construction methods, fabrication, or related field
• Experience with Autodesk, Fusion360, VCarve
• Experience with Google Workspace and Calendar
• Forklift Certified
